Cyprus Praised for Syria Role

 NICOSIA – Cyprus can take tremendous credit for its contribution to the OPWC-UN Joint Mission for the destruction of chemical materials in Syria, Sigrid Kaag the Special Coordinator of the mission has stressed.


In an interview to Cyprus News Agency, Kaag underscored Cyprus` strategic location and pointed out that as a stable, safe and secure country, Cyprus continues to play an important role in the region.

In the occasion of the completion of the removal of the declared chemical weapons materials from Syria, and asked by CNA how satisfied she is with the entire operation, Kaag said that the point is how satisfied she is, but how satisfied the states participated in the operation and the UN Security Council are.
