Children’s Hospital Paramedic Detained on Charges of Sexually Molesting Two Girls

ATHENS — A paramedic of the Children's Hospital Aghia Sofia was detained on Wednesday after testifying on charges of sexually molesting two girls, aged 6 and 8.

The man, 61, was arrested a few days ago after a home search and is also charged with illegal possession of arms.

The stretcher-bearer had been reported on by hospital staff in January, for molesting two young patients while one of them was on a ventilator and the other was unconscious. An investigation by a prosecutor led to his being charged and his arrest.

He has denied the charges, claiming it was all a misunderstanding by his accusers.

ATHENS - A Mixed Jury Criminal Appeals Court on Friday handed down sentences of life and 15 years imprisonment on the two young men found guilty of the murder and gang rape of 21-year-old student Eleni Topaloudi, imposing the same sentence as that imposed by a lower court.
