New York’s Columbia University to Establish International Education Center in Athens

November 7, 2022

ATHENS – New York’s Columbia University president Lee Bollinger announced the establishment of the Columbia International Education Center in Athens aiming to enrich the teaching, scientific and research work that is underway in Greece, in cooperation with Greek universities and the Greek university community.

The Center is expected to welcome the first students in 2023, according to the Ministry of Education.

Bollinger’s presence in Athens is part of the visit of representatives from 30 US universities to Greece for their participation in the Pharos Summit 2022: Greek-US Collaboration in Higher Education.

“Greece is becoming a beacon of education that attracts students, professors, researchers from all over the world, as it deserves”, was the comment from the Ministry of Education.

The opening event of the “Pharos Summit 2022” will take place on Monday at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.
