Products in “Household Basket” Have Returned to August Prices, Georgiadis Says

November 3, 2022

ATHENS – The products in the ‘household basket’ have returned to August prices, Development and Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis said on Thursday speaking to MEGA TV. He added that with the help of the household basket, “we have erased two months of inflation for the products included in it.”

The development minister referred to the industry saying that many supermarket chains have pointed out to the ministry that the food industry is not contributing to the effort to contain prices. “I have asked to see the industry’s sales invoices to the chains for the basket products. I want to see if industry has done its share in terms of social contribution. We have all said that we would support this effort, I don’t want to see that industry is lagging,” said the minister.

Finally, he noted that the basket of goods consists of 60% brand-name products and 40% private label products.
