Astypalea Expected to Be a Pole of Attraction for Travellers in 2022

ASTYPALEA – The island of Astypalea, the “butterfly” of the Aegean, welcomes the new tourism season in 2022 with the best possible omens. Among others, the island became a pole of attraction due to the Red Bull Art of Motion free running event, the most important of its kind in the world, which brought the big names of the sport to the island.

At the same time, the innovative project “Smart and Sustainable Island” is unfolding rapidly, and aims at the creation of the first sustainable and fully energy independent island.

“In the midst of the energy crisis, people’s eyes are fixed on us. We are making history on Astypalea as the prospect of sustainability can offer a way out for any destination in the future. We see that both the locals and travellers support the change,” underlined the mayor of Astypalea, Nikos Komnineas.
