THESSALONIKI – Greece’s second-largest city Thessaloniki has been the scene of much violence, including soccer hooligan attacks and anarchists trying to stop the taking away of a squat they inhabited for years at the Aristotle University.

Now the school has seen more trouble, this time when riot police stationed outside came under a brazen attack by assailants who tossed Molotov Cocktails and other objects at them, a frequent occurrence that rarely brings prosecution.

According to the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki, the group of assailants moved rapidly through the university campus and caught the officers off guard, with no explanation as to why as they are frequent targets.

There were no reported injuries but some parked cars were damaged and police detained 10 people but didn’t arrest them and let them go, no explanation why.
