ATHENS – The invasion of Ukraine by Russia and the horror in the streets of a European capital “are a return back to the most horrendous moments of history,” SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras said on Sunday on Facebook.

In his post, the main opposition leader said, “The invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, the scenes of horror we see on our televisions, the bombing, the battles, and the death it spreads on the streets of a European capital are a return back to the most horrendous moments of history.”

Tsipras called for the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine, and for the international and EU communities’ support of the Ukrainians by “exhausting all diplomatic means to retun to the path of diplomacy.” He concluded his message saying “no more bloodshed of the innocent, no to war, yes to peace!”
