Create with Filo Program Launched by Greek International Food Market

WEST ROXBURY, MA – Greek International Food Market launched the “Create with Filo program to engage everyone, from toddlers to teens, and connect with other ‘foodie’ families, while building memories,” Patch.com reported on April 30.

The food market “will be giving away samples of Zagorisio filo in family cooking kits,” as part of the program, Patch reported, adding that “the Zagorisio filo can be used for appetizers, main courses, pies/desserts and more.”

Greek International Food Market founder and CEO Katerina Iliades told Patch that “filo dough offers unlimited possibilities for creativity; it can be layered, rolled, and folded. It offers the kind of tactile experience that children love. We’re excited to encourage them to explore with this delicious Greek classic.”

With many families cooking at home and looking for new ideas and recipes, the Create with Filo program adds Greek flavor to everyday cooking.

The free cooking kits can be picked up at the Greek International Food Market, 5204 Washington Street in West Roxbury, Patch reported, adding that “the market is open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM-6 PM for takeout and curbside pickup,” and “the kits will be available until the end of May (or while supplies last).”

Families are encouraged to share their new recipes and “include photos and videos, which the market may post on their website and Facebook page (one per family),” Patch reported, noting that “by mid-June, the market will post several favorites for all to try and savor.”

Iliades told Patch that “as the mother of two young children, I’m especially excited to learn about recipes created by our youngest family members. Growing up, I loved baking with filo dough and want others to have that same sense of joy.”

According to the Greek International Food Market website, Iliades opened the Food Market in December 2009, fully stocked with handpicked Mediterranean products, and ready to share the Greek cuisine she was brought up with. Inspired by her father, Savvas  Iliades, owner of the highly acclaimed Greek restaurant the Farm Grill and Greek Cuisine in Newton, MA for over twenty years – she recognized an unmet need for the imported Mediterranean ingredients that her father had been using for years to create his dishes.

Greek oils, marinated olives, imported cheeses, wines/beers, honey, coffee, tea, spices and herbs as well as freshly prepared foods, desserts, and treats are available at the Food Market. Iliades’ mission is to promote a healthier lifestyle based on the Greek cuisine by preparing and importing the highest quality products.
