On the United States’ most iconic highway – Route 66 – Lindy’s Diner has fed many a hungry traveler or residents of Albuquerque, New Mexico where it’s located and now the popular spot is adding a pop-up in back, emphasizing the owners’ Greek roots.
It’s known as Narke’s Place, said KRQE in a report. “Took family recipes and applied them to our menu, made authentic Greek food and that’s how it all came about,” said owner Steve Vatoseow. “My wife does all the cooking.”
The name is after Vatoseow’s son and father. The pop-up offers everything from moussaka and Greek chicken to a baklava sundae as if baklava weren’t crazy delicious and gooey enough.
“Different choice, something else, something out of the ordinary,” said Vatoseow. “Hopefully they’ll come and try us out and get some authentic Greek food.”
The reviews on TripAdvisor show why it’s so good. Near the train station was a classic cafe offering home cooking!” said a fan from Roswell, New Mexico, while another from Torrance, California noted the memorabilia from Old Highway 66. “It’s not fancy but interesting…worth a visit.” The pop-up opened up in mid-December.
