67 Refugees Rescued on Wednesday Near Corfu, Evia

ATHENS — Forty-two refugees, most of Arab descent, were located and rescued by Hellenic Coast Guard (HCG) personnel in a remote area at Karystos, Evia island, and another twenty-five were collected off the island of Corfu on Wednesday.

A suspect vessel sailing off Karystos is being traced by the HCG.

The group west of Paleokastritsa were found on a vessel in distress and taken to the town of Corfu, where the vessel was confiscated.

Two minors were among the first group and nine in the second group.
