Chicago Will Get Another Greek Restaurant, No Name Yet

February 23, 2020

Chicago is so synonymous with Greek restaurants one of Saturday Night Live’s iconic skits was set there (Cheeborger, No Coke, Pepsi) but one of their prime spots in the West Loop has been overtaken by trendier themes.
Now that’s about to change – thanks to one of the trend-setters, DineAmic Hospitality, which said it will add a Greek-themed place along the restaurant row there, sometime in the fall even if doesn’t have a name yet.

“We’ve been dying to do a Greek restaurant for a while,” said DineAmic co-founder David Rekhson, reported Eater Chicago. He said he’s visited Greece the last seven years and his wife, Vasoula, is a first-generation Greek-American.

Rekhson’s partner, Lucas Stoioff, last year visited the Greek Islands for the first time with his wife, Karolina and after the two families hung out they got hooked on having a Greek restaurant, saying the found the lifestyle and foods irresistible: seafood diet, good wine, and late nights.

“It’s so much more than I thought it was,” said Stoioff. The country’s “general ethos of wellness” also impressed him. Enough to start a restaurant. How about Efexia?
