Memory Eternal, Presbytera Georgia Metropulos

BOSTON – Presbytera Georgia (Mitsos) Metropulos, 63, of Boca Raton, FL and Jamaica Plain, MA, passed away May 7 with her family by her side.

She was born to the late Rev. Constantine Mitsos and Evelyn (Liarakos) Mitsos, June 27, 1955, in Huntington, WV. Georgia graduated from Western Hills High School in 1973 and received a BS in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati in 1977.

She married Fr. Christopher T. Metropulos in 1977. Georgia is survived by her husband as well as six children and their families: Eleni (Metropulos) Alexiou, her husband Tony and their children Nicola and Christina, of Bethesda, MD; Constance (Metropulos) Palesty and her husband Chris, of Boca Raton, FL; Constantine Metropulos, his wife Megan and their son Thomas, of Melbourne, FL; Lucas Metropulos and his wife Ashley, of Gaithersburg, MD; Evalana Metropulos, of Boston, MA; and Nicholas Metropulos, of Boston, MA. Georgia is survived by her mother, Evelyn (Liarakos) Mitsos of Boca Raton, and by her brother, Nicholas Mitsos, his wife Dorothy and their son Constantine, of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Georgia was a generous and loving person who always went out of her way to care for others. She spent most of her life raising her six children after practicing as a nurse in Massachusetts.

One of her favorite quotes by Winston Churchill was, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” This quote and the actions in her life truly show her deep love of community and commitment to leaving this world a better place. Georgia was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

Her Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church of Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304.
