Austrian Tourist, 75, Has Fatal Hang Gliding Accident on Lefkada

LEFKADA, Greece – An Austrian national died while hang gliding over a rocky cliff in the area Kathisma of Lefkada island.

The 75-year-old man, who was vacationing at the Ionian island the last few days, hit the rocks with great force and was fatally injured.

Port authority and fire brigade personnel could not approach the place he fell, and a military helicopter could not approach him. He was finally reached by the EMAK emergency squad from Ipiros, which carried him out with the help of the fire brigade, but he died en route to the Lefkada hospital.
