151 Migrants and Refugees Rescued off Greek Island; One Missing

ATHENS — A freighter bound for Turkey rescued on early Wednesday 151 migrants and refugees that were on a yacht adrift northeast of the island of Amorgos.

Strong winds were blowing in the area reaching up to 8 on the Beaufort scale. The rescued will be transferred to a Turkish port.

According the rescued, testimonies one of the passengers allegedly the trafficker fell in the water and is missing. The Coast Guard has launched a rescue operation to locate the missing man in which nearby sailing ships, a navy helicopter, and open seas coast guard vessel and another two coast guard vessels participate.
