TNH Staff Picks Best Version of Oh Holy Night: #5 – Martina McBride

From now until Christmas Day we will feature the countdown of 10 of the most popular versions of the beloved Christmas carol, “Oh Holy Night.” To compare apples to apples, we chose 10 soloists, all female. Our staff members ranked the videos, and here are the results – from 10 to 1. Some comments from the judges are included (including my own two cents). How did we do? Please let us know – and, most of all, enjoy!

This used to be my favorite version and now it’s a close second to Maria Carey’s (our collective #10 pick). Martina won over many of our judges, but got some really low scores, too.  She’s a country singer and so, like pop stars, doesn’t get too much praise from our caroling purists.  She finishes in fifth place – four picks to go!

What do you think?
