Strong Winds Disrupt Ferry Journeys

January 10, 2023

ATHENS – Strong winds of up to 9 Beaufort in the Aegean have disrupted scheduled ferry journeys on Tuesday.

Ferries going to the Cyclades and the Dodecanese islands remained docked at the port of Piraeus while a sailing ban was in effect for the ports of Rafina and Lavrio.

The ferry lines Pachi (Megara), Faneromeni (Salamina) and Aghia Marina – Nea Styra were not operating. Only closed-type ferries were sailing to the islands of the Saronic Gulf.

Passengers who intend to travel on Tuesday were advised to contact local port authorities and tourist agencies before their departure to check for any changes or modifications to itineraries due to adverse weather conditions.
