Police: 8 Wounded When Shooters Fire into Crowd in Brooklyn

NEW YORK — Eight people were shot and wounded early Monday when two shooters fired into a crowd listening to music in Brooklyn, police said.

About 100 to 150 people were gathered in front of a building at the Eleanor Roosevelt Houses in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood when shots rang out just before 12:30 a.m., police officials said at a news briefing.

Five women and three men were shot, Deputy Chief Scott Henderson of Patrol Bureau Brooklyn North said. The victims were taken to hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening, Henderson said. They ranged in age from 18 to 27, he said.

Two bullets were fired into apartments in the housing complex, Deputy Chief John Chell of Brooklyn North detectives said. No one was injured in those apartments, he said.

Police have made no arrests.
