Peloni Sharply Criticises Tsipras about His Statement on Vaccination

ATHENS — Government spokesperson Aristotelia Peloni on Wednesday sharply criticised the leader of the main opposition, SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance President Alexis Tsipras, over his statements in an interview with Antenna TV earlier the same day.

Peloni accused Tsipras of "irresponsibility" and "doom-mongering".

"Today, he outdid even his worst self, making the unthinkable statement for a former prime minister and current leader of the main opposition that the government opened the vaccination platform for the 30-39 age group much earlier than planned, in order to 'destock,'" Peloni said.

He added that "this is the umpteenth time in the middle of the pandemic that Tsipras, instead of calling for the observance of the measures and recommending that citizens get vaccinated, is fishing in the murky waters of doom-mongering."

The government spokesperson said that Tsipras was "insulting the young people who are already being vaccinated."
