New Tasty Town Coming to Birmingham, Alabama: Greek-Style

There used to be a classic American diner in Atlanta called Tasty Town, says chef Mike Wilson, a place that was a community fixture and that’s what he’s hoping for in his restaurant – by the same name – when it opens in Birmingham, Alabama.

That’s slated for mid-April of 2022 and promises, he said, to bring a Southern look to classic Mediterranean fare, in an old-style look and feel so the customers are comfortable with comfort food, Greek-style.

“We want to bring the food to life in a way that honors traditional Greek techniques, and we can prepare it right here in our kitchens. We’re reaching out and grabbing ingredients that are around us – from our local farmers,” he said, reported the site Bham Now.

“We wanted to combine a Greek-Southern concept with an old-school American diner aesthetic. Our creative director remembered that old restaurant and we thought it would be the perfect name,” he said.

The perfect look too, the report saying it will look like an old-time diner and feature an art-deco era and 1950s fallback look. You know… when there wasn’t a pandemic.
