Iliopoulos: A Politically Dangerous Prime Minister

ATHENS — Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance spokesperson Nassos Iliopoulos on Thursday spoke of a "politically dangerous prime minister," while talking on radio "Sto Kokkino" about the announcement of additional measures against the pandemic.

"Last Sunday, Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated that there was satisfactory management of the pressure on the health system but on Wednesday the health system collapsed in Attica and we were forced to take additional measures," Illiopoulos said, adding: "The prime minister is dangerous because he does not understand or says that he does not understand the state that the national health system is in and from the first moment he refused to listen to the cries of the people on the front line."

Iliopoulos said that the governmemnt continues to trade in hope based on the vaccine at a time when scientists, from the first moment, support that collective immunity will not be achieved until after the summer, in the best-case scenario.

He added that the pandemic is still ahead, adding that ruling New Democracy is turning the vaccine into an alibi to avoid taking the necessary measures for the support of the public health system.
