Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
ATHENS – Greece was the only EU country to achieve the target of reducing road fatalities by more than 50% in 2020 compared to 2010. The improvement to the country’s road network, the increase in road safety, the driver assistance systems in modern cars and a better driving culture led to a decrease in the number of fatal traffic accidents.
According to data from the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA), there were 54 deaths from traffic accidents per million inhabitants in Greece in 2020, representing a decrease of more than half (54%) compared with 2010 (113 deaths). Thus, Greece “broke free” from its penultimate position as one of the most dangerous countries for driving and climbed eight places higher, ahead of Croatia, Lithuania, Poland, Bulgaria, Latvia and Romania.
