Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
BARI, Italy – A great and double golden success at an international level was achieved by Sakellaropoulos Organic Farms, in Italy, and in the global competition of certified organic olive oils, PREMIO BIOL International Olive Oil Competition 2023.
PREMIO BIOL IOOC evaluates exclusively the organic olive oils for every new harvest season, and due to the high prestige of the annual event, it gathers great interest from the global organic olive industry.
The organic olive oils that participate every year in PREMIO BIOL must be certified according to the standards of IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements) and are initially tested with chemical analyzes in specialized laboratories, where they must meet specific eligibility criteria in order to participate in PREMIO BIOL.
Then, a panel of numerous expert olive oil tasters – judges, recognized by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, proceeds to make organoleptic analysis and evaluation on all participating organic olive oils based on the criteria established by the International Olive Council.
The 28th edition of PREMIO BIOL Italy 2023, took place in Bari, Italy, from March 8 to 10, 2023, where more than 400 olive oils participated coming from 18 countries of the world, mainly from Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Croatia, Argentina, Tunisia, Slovenia etc.
Sakellaropoulos Organic Farms from Sparta Laconia, participating with two specialized early harvest organic olive oils and meeting the strict evaluation criteria of the PREMIO BIOL 2023 competition, were honored with the same number of gold awards, specifically:
FYLLIKON First Harvest Organic evoo – Gold Award
ARMONIA Monovarietal Organic evoo – Gold Award
These two major gold awards, at PREMIO BIOL International Olive Oil Competition 2023, complete the unique number of 634 international awards for Sakellaropoulos Organic Farms worldwide, a record number for a Greek olive producer exclusively of their own olive products (Single Estate producer).
