Four Bodies Recovered from Greek Ferry Severely Burned, Coroner Reports

ATHENS – Complete incineration or severe burns were cited as the cause of death for the first four bodies recovered from the “Euroferry Olympia”, the passenger-car ferry that was engulfed in flames while sailing to Brindisi, according to the coroner’s report.

Speaking to Athens-Macedonian News Agency on Friday, the head of the coroner’s office Aggeliki Tsiola said that the cause of death differed for each body. She explained that “some bodies were completely charred and others had burn injuries,” adding that “one of the bodies’ was identified and picked up today for burial, while the other three are not identifiable”.
