Greece Registers 853 New Coronavirus Cases on Tuesday; 491 in ICUs Nationally

ATHENS — Greece registered 853 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, with 9 of these identified at entry points to the country, the National Public Health Organization (EODY) said on Tuesday.

The total cases registered in Greece since the start of the pandemic stand at 132,430. Of these, 5,248 are linked to travel abroad and 38,804 to already known cases.

At hospitals, 491 people are currently on ventilators. Their median age is 67 years, 78.2 pct have an underlying condition or are aged 70 or more, and 156 are women. Another 823 have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began in Greece.

EODY also registered 83 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing Greece's deaths due to Covid-19 to 4,340. Of the total, the median age of the deceased was 79 years and 95.7 pct had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 years or more. In addition, 1,754 were women.
