ATHENS — In the next few years, Komotini, Sparta, and Thessaloniki in Greece will all gain new hospitals, as part of SNF’s Health Initiative that aims to improve the lives of local communities and ensure access to high-quality health services. The new SNF General Hospital of Komotini, the SNF University Pediatric Hospital of Thessaloniki, and the new SNF General Hospital of Sparta aspire to become models of public health care and treatment for the residents—children and adults—of these regions.
The projects, designed by internationally renowned architect Renzo Piano, are already in full swing, with delivery set for 2025. Plans for the hospitals have paid special attention to the surrounding areas and have focused on enabling a treatment model inspired by ancient “Asclepieions.”
The grant for the construction and outfitting of these three state-of-the-art hospitals is part of SNF’s Health Initiative. The Initiative, which also includes procurement of specialized medical equipment and support for educational programs, aims to strengthen the health sector in Greece to improve access to quality medical care.
SNF invites the public to open events to discuss the vision, design philosophy, and progress of the projects, as well as to answer questions from members of the public.
The events, which will take place in Greek, will include SNF representatives, members of the architectural firms involved, as well as medical consultants for the project.
