Youth Program Graduation at St. George in Piscataway, NJ

PISCATAWAY, NJ – In a festive atmosphere, the graduation ceremony for the youth program GOYA was held at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway.

Immediately after the end of the Divine Liturgy on June 2, in the packed event hall, students, parents and educational staff had fun, dined, and exchanged their best wishes for a good summer.

Presiding priest of the community Very Reverend Archimandrite Nektarios Cottros spoke to The National Herald, congratulating the 92 students of the program, the largest, he said, in New Jersey.

“These are very special, dear and good children, with many qualifications and talents,” Fr. Cottros told TNH. “They stand out in sports, in school, in church, everywhere they excel. They have in their souls a great Greek and Orthodox spirit and a bright future.”

Program coordinator Kyriaki Kalogridis referred to the goals and objectives throughout the year.

“We did charity and social projects, sports activities with teams in basketball and volleyball and games once a month,” she said, adding that “we celebrate and honor all religious and national holidays, give scholarships and awards to students.”

“Today at the same time for September, we welcome our new members who come from the program for the younger students,” Kalogridis said. “Have a good and restful summer and see you in the autumn.”
