NEW YORK – Yolanda Koumidou-Vlesmas, a licensed clinical social worker, psychotherapist, and founder of the Koumidou Center LLC, has been accompanying people on their voyages of self-exploration for more than 30 years through individual, couples, family, and group therapy. She also runs individual and couples retreats at her upstate New York Outdoor Retreat Center and once a year she organizes and leads international group retreats.

Emotional reactions and their predictable underlying causes:
Fear and anxiety descend when situations are perceived as, out of control, unsafe, unknown and unpredictable.
Disappointment always follows any kind of expectation, whether that expectation manifested or not.
Anger about anything is the standard reaction to wanting and not getting what is wanted.
Sadness is associated with forced and/or sudden detachment from a particular attachment.
Loneliness is experienced due to not knowing how loneliness is connected to the journey of the soul.
Depression (non-clinical) reveals a derailment in the organic direction of life and invites downtime to re-examine and recalculate decisions made.
