NEW YORK – Yia Mas is a lifestyle brand and workshop series inspired by the traditions of wellness and self-inquiry embedded in Hellenic culture. Yia Mas creates wellness events, retreats, and conscious objects inspired by the land and ancient wisdom of Greece.
Dedicated to health, Hellenism, and fostering community, Yia Mas workshops are equal parts informative, social, and interactive. What began as an event at COCO-MAT in New York City has expanded into workshops held virtually and throughout the U.S. Yia Mas also hosts retreats in the land of the muses that inspired it all, Greece!
The brand and ethos celebrates the richness of Greece’s land and culture. The aim is to elevate alternative perspectives of Greek culture beyond the mainstream.
Yia Mas Founder Kristina Headrick announced an updated blog for the brand as well as the latest playlist. She said via email, “We recently took some time to reflect on what we most want to offer our community. Ideally, we want Yia Mas to be your go-to for wellness tips, culture, and conscious living as influenced by Greece’s land and rich culture. As such, we decided to give our blog a makeover! We're excited to dive deeper into some of our favorite topics than we can on Instagram.”
The updated blog’s first post was “on the topic of sophrosyne, an Ancient Greek philosophy that connotes a healthy state of mind, moderation, and equilibrium,” Headrick said, adding that “as with all of our offerings, we hope this empowers you to do all things with your health in mind and that you'll share if it resonates!”
She also noted that Yia Mas is offering more items in Greek among its merchandise available online, including a new t-shirt with a print playing on the origins of the name Yia Mas.
Headrick also noted, “As promised on Instagram, we curated a playlist of contemporary Greek artists called ‘Not Ancient Greek.’ This one may surprise you… It features Greek and Greek diaspora artists, namely alternative, indie, and jazz, with a sprinkle of some names you may be more familiar with, such as Imam Baldi and Marina Satti.”
The playlist is available on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5j8q5azVWQ35GWOZ43Hr5b?si=KXGpzgH4T0Gw7W0G6_kfwA.
