Wildfire Breaks Out Near Sitia on the Island of Crete

ATHENS – A wildfire broke out on Thursday at the location Rousa Ekklisia in Sitia, with the regional unit of Lasithi on the island of Crete.

The fire brigade said that four fire engines from Sitia, two from Ierapetra and one from Agios Nikolaos had responded and were currently trying to put out the flames under difficult conditions, due to strong southerly winds blowing in the area.
