Wildfire Breaks Out on Salamina Island

ATHENS – A wildfire that broke out around noon on Tuesday at a forest area on Salamina island is in full progress.

The Fire Brigade said that the blaze is near a settlement but is not threatening it so far.

Five fire engines with a 12 member crew and 2 firefighting aircraft are currently battling the blaze while another four fire engines with 9 member crew are

on a ferry bound to the island.
