We Continue to Protect our Sovereignty and our Sovereign Rights, Diplomatic Sources Say

ATHENS – “Greece promotes security and stability in the wider region, pursuing a foreign policy based on the rules of International Law and the Law of the Sea, with full respect for the principles of the Charter of the United Nations Organization”, diplomatic sources said on Saturday commenting on statements by Turkish officials.

“Greece has never tried, nor is it trying to impose a fait accompli”, the same sources underlined and added:

“On the contrary, it condemns all forms of expansionism and revisionism and in the context of good neighborly relations it resolves outstanding issues with its neighbors, such as with Italy and Egypt, through the unwavering application of the rules of International Law and the Law of the Sea.”

“We continue to protect our sovereignty and our sovereign rights,” they concluded.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made new provocative statements against Greece earlier on Saturday. As the Turkish president said from Antalya, “as long as you don’t mess with us in the Aegean Sea, we won’t mess with you.”
