US Ambassador Pyatt Visits Greek Orthodox Church NGO with Archbishop Ieronymos

ATHENS — US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt and Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece paid a visit to the 'Dimitrio' Center for Creative Work affiliated with the Greek Orthodox Church through the NGO 'Apostoli'.

As the American embassy has cancelled this year's reception for Independence Day (July 4), it is donating instead 400 plates of food for the NGO Apostoli.

Ambassador Pyatt met with the NGO's general director Kostis Dimtsas and spoke with him and Archbishop Ieronymos of the strong ties between Greece and the United States, traced back to the model of the Athenian democracy that US founding fathers drew upon when they drafted the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

Children at the center also had the opportunity to ask the ambassador questions about his life and travels in Greece.
