UHAS Receives CA State Assembly Proclamation for Greek Independence Bicentennial

SACRAMENTO – California Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore Kevin Mullin from the 22nd District Issues a Special Tribute to the Greek Community and Commemorates the Bicentennial Anniversary

On behalf of the United Hellenic American Societies (UHAS) representing the Greek community in California, President Taso Zografos received a proclamation from the California State Assembly to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Greek Independence on March 25, 2021.

The proclamation was issued and signed by the State Assembly Speaker pro Tempore Kevin Mullin who represents the Assembly’s 22nd District in California and it states, “This is in commemoration of the 200th Anniversary of Greek Independence Day, and in recognition of the many contributions the United Hellenic American Societies (UHAS) has made representing the Greek American community in California by promoting, preserving, and protecting Greek culture, heritage, and tradition. On behalf of the State of California, congratulations and best wishes for continued success.”

“We appreciate this recognition of the 200th anniversary of Greek Independence by Assembly Speaker pro Tempore Kevin Mullin,” said UHAS President Taso Zografos. “We look to establish an annually recognized Greek Heritage Week that would encompass the date of March 25th when Hellenes and Philhellenes in California and around the world celebrate the anniversary of Greek Independence.”
