Tsipras: SYRIZA Ready to Push for Political Change

ATHENS — SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance is ready to demand political change with the aim of rebuilding the social state and the protection of workers and small- and medium-sized enterprises, main opposition leader Alexis Tsipras underlined on Wednesday while addressing the party's Political Council, according to a source in the party.

"With the programme for the new National Health System and the settlement and erasing of part of the private debt as its main axes and an overall sustainable restarting of the economy, as well as our plan for the protection of labour, we already have an important policy tool that gets major positive reactions from the Greek society, said the main opposition leader.

He claimed that "Mitsotakis' government has lost control of the pandemic and at the same time the trust of society," adding that "the rapid wear of the government in the last month may lead to political developments."

Tsipras referred to democracy issues, accusing the government of intentionally downgrading and annulling the democratic operation of the parliament.

Finally, he referred to the Recovery Fund, which, as he said "proves that the Mitsotakis' government plans a return to failed and socially disastrous policies".
