Tsipras: Greece to Face A Period of Great Challenges and Uncertainty Ahead

ΑΤΗΕΝS — Greece will face "a period of great social tension, insecurity and uncertainty on all fronts," SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras told the party's parliamentary group on Monday.

The main opposition leader named as challenges the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the rise in prices of goods that households face, unemployment and uncertainty, the energy and climate crisis and the global geopolitical upheavals. During such times, he noted "hate and racism forces resurface to sow fear and violence," and he cited as an example far-right violence at a high school in Thessaloniki.

The current government has an obligation to "stop indulging the extreme-right audience," he said.
