Morning Consult, a political poll on the rise and just below the pantheon of the elite pollsters, has revealed in a poll conducted Aug. 14 to 16 that Donald Trump has his biggest lead yet over his Republican Rivals.
According to Morning Consult, Trump has opened up a 20-point lead over Jeb Bush, 32-12%, with the rest of the candidates trailing in single digits.
The two biggest targets of the campaign so far are illegal aliens and Washington insiders. Ted Cruz is resonating with the most vocal opponents of illegal U.S. entry, and Ben Caron and Carly Fiorina appeal to those who rail against “professional politicians.”
Trump appeals to both groups, which is no surprise why he is in first place.
Here are the numbers:
DONALD TRUMP: 32%
JEB BUSH: 12%
BEN CARSON: 7%
MIKE HUCKABEE, MARCO RUBIO 6%
TED CRUZ: 5%
CHRIS CHRISTIE/CARLY FIORINA/ RAND PAUL 4%
JOHN KASICH/SCOTT WALKER 3%
RICK PERRY: 2%
LINDSEY GRAHAM, BOBBY JINDAL, RICK SANTORUM 1%
GEORGE PATAKI 0%
(Jim Gilmore was not on the poll)
