TNH Staff Picks Best Version of Oh Holy Night: #7 – Diana Ross

From now until Christmas Day we will feature the countdown of 10 of the most popular versions of the beloved Christmas carol, “Oh Holy Night.” To compare apples to apples, we chose 10 soloists, all female. Our staff members ranked the videos, and here are the results – from 10 to 1. Some comments from the judges are included (including my own two cents). How did we do? Please let us know – and, most of all, enjoy!

Diana Ross can build a house just to store all her Grammy awards.  And before Bruce Springsteen became known as “The Boss,” that nickname belonged to Diana, who had a single by that title in 1979.

But our judges gave this “Supreme” singer mixed reviews, and so she finished in 7th place. Personally, I was a tad kinder, giving her 6th.

Arguably, all of these version of “Oh Holy Night” are wonderful – the debate is just which one is more wonderful than the next. And our judges thought Diana Ross’ version was better than three, not as good as six.

What do you think?
