TNH Staff Picks Best Version of Oh Holy Night: #6 – Carrie Underwood

From now until Christmas Day we will feature the countdown of 10 of the most popular versions of the beloved Christmas carol, “Oh Holy Night.” To compare apples to apples, we chose 10 soloists, all female. Our staff members ranked the videos, and here are the results – from 10 to 1. Some comments from the judges are included (including my own two cents). How did we do? Please let us know – and, most of all, enjoy!

Outvoted again! Most folks put this one right in the middle, not appreciating the high-note yells and pop feel, and so it wound up in 6th place overall. I had it 3rd, because though country is not my favorite genre, for whatever reason most of my favorite female singers sing country. Plus, I like Carrie’s stage antics at the beginning that gave George and Laura Bush a chuckle (then again, I’m a sucker for all-things-presidents).

That rounds out the bottom 5 picks.  The top 5 on deck!
