ATHENS The Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum (ILJM) shared an update on its summer programs including the Hephaistos Summer Program (JSS).

During June, the JSS welcomed jewelry enthusiasts and students from around the world. With 45 hours taught by nine lecturers, the program unfolded the history of western jewelry enriched by field trips in unseen workshops and hidden Museum galleries. Faculty-led opportunities for the first time included a group from Western Michigan University.

Meet the jewelry residents in the live workshops: Corrina Goutos, NY, USA, Studio jeweler; Cassandre Martinez, France, Jewelry metalsmith artist; Argyris Papageorgiou, South Africa, Fine jewelry artist; Alkistis Papagiani, Greece, Metalsmith jeweler; Nicole Polentas, Melbourne, Australia, Studio jeweler and Lecturer at RMIT University; Sharon Portelance, Maine, USA, Studio jeweler and Professor at Maine College of Art; and Pallavi Verma, India, Jewelry artist and goldsmith.

This year more than 14 interns and volunteers attended the Museum’s Curatorial and Administrative Internships. Students and young professionals practiced their skills in the unique Museum environment. “We are thrilled that interns arrived with an academic background from the Courtlauld Institute of Art, London, UK; University College of London, UK; Barnard College, NY, USA; King’s College of London, UK; and the University of Granada, Spain,” the ILJM noted in its news release.
