ATHENS – Dozens of Hellenes and Philhellenes from all over the world flocked to the 3rd THI Global New Leaders Annual Athens Happy Hour on July 18 at the popular Skyfall lounge for fellowship, networking – and to support the work of the Hellenic Initiative.
After a morning visit to a suburb of Athens to further care for the trees they planted and watered two years ago, New Leaders from Athens, UK, U.S., Canada, Australia, and around the world gathered on the rooftop of the popular lounge in the Pangrati district. They enjoyed ample and delicious finger food, drinks donated by Skinos Mastiha Spirit, and complimentary wine/beer – along with that gorgeous Acropolis view.
Artemis Kohas, THI’s Director of Community Development and one of the driving forces behind the New Leaders, told The National Herald, “at THI, we have built the largest and most dynamic global community of young professionals, our New Leaders, of any other diaspora organization I have seen. Our recent Happy Hour in Athens on July 18 proved that. We had 200 New Leaders come together in the center of Athens to meet one another and ‘Network with a Purpose’. Seeing this event grow every year and so many people come together was truly moving. I believe it’s a true testament to our work and the trust people put in our organization. Since that night, I have received so many emails and messages from people wanting to help and be more involved, I am still answering them!”
According to thehellenicinitiative.org “THI New Leaders are an international group of like-minded professionals 21-45 years of age who actively believe in investing in the future of Greece through direct philanthropy and economic revitalization… [they] are passionate about working together (Oli Mazi) to fundraise, and donate their time, resources, skills, and expertise in helping to build a better future for Hellas.”
Founded in 2012, THI is a global non-profit organization that brings together Diaspora Greeks and Philhellenes to invest in Greece through programs focused on economic development and crisis relief. Since its founding, THI has invested more than $22 million in Greece, supporting promising startups, the most effective philanthropic organizations, and cultural endeavors.
