Theodorikakos Sees Positive Climate Continuing for Remainder of Gov’t Term

ATHENS — "I believe that, in the same way that there is a positive climate now, there will be one for the entire four-year term," Interior Minister Takis Theodorikakos said on Wednesday in an interview with SKAI TV. He added that the government and the prime minister have a coherent plan for the economy and the state, for which they will be positively judged at the end of the four-year period.

Theodorikakos stated that he does not see early elections in the fall. He added that the prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has repeatedly clarified the issue, "so there is no reason for anyone to say anything more."

Asked why citizens seem to trust Mitsotakis, Theodorikakos said the prime minister represents "the great social majority of moderation and common sense."

As he said, hundreds of thousands of people – regardless of how they voted in the previous elections – see a positive policy for the country, which cares about society as a whole and protects national interests. "In particular, they have seen a very effective management in the coronavirus crisis," he said.

Asked if the digitisation of the state means fewer jobs, Theodorikakos replied that "what matters is to better manage the human resources of the public sector, for them to be better distributed, evaluated and for this evaluation to have positive impact on their progress."
