The Taste of Greektown Chicago Returns August 27-29

CHICAGO – Taste of Greektown returns to Chicago August 27-29 this year. The largest Greek festival in the Chicago area will celebrate 31 years of sharing Hellenic cuisine and culture on Halsted Street between Adams and Van Buren streets.

Among the highlights of this year’s festival will be authentic food from Greektown restaurants and bars, live music, Greek dancing, family activities, and shopping.

“Live music and entertainment at the 31st annual Taste of Greektown includes Hellas 2000 on the festival main stage, performing traditional and new Greek music daily from 4-10 PM,” ABC7 Chicago reported on August 21, adding that “local DJs and bands will perform on the festival's second stage throughout the weekend.”

“Taste of Greektown is Chicago's largest celebration of Hellenic cuisine and culture,” ABC7 reported.

“The fourth annual Gyro Eating Contest sponsored by Devanco Foods takes over the second stage on Saturday night, August 28, 6 PM,” ABC 7 reported, noting that “interested participants can sign up on-site at the festival by Saturday at 4 PM at a table located adjacent to the second stage.”

Presented by the Greektown Chamber of Commerce with support from Greektown Special Service Area 16, the festival is sure to raise the spirits of the community. There is a $5 suggested donation to attend.

Among the favorite Greek restaurants to be featured are 9 Muses Bar & Grill, Spectrum Bar & Grill, Athena Restaurant, and Artopolis Bakery, Cafe and Agora.

Festival hours: Friday, August 27, 4-10 PM; Saturday, August 28 and Sunday, August 29, noon-10 PM.
