NEW YORK – The National Philoptochos Society on September 23 announced a $300,000 grant to Hellenic College-Holy Cross (HCHC) to upgrade technology and campus facilities. Thanks to the generosity of the Philoptochos members and supporters, this funding will enhance HCHC’s mission of educational, and spiritual development within the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, as they prepare the students for a life of service in our sacred Archdiocese.
This grant underscores Philoptochos’ dedication to nurturing future leaders for the Church and society by addressing urgent infrastructure needs arising from increased enrollment and technological demands. These enhancements are essential for creating an optimal learning environment that supports HCHC students’ academic and spiritual formation. Specifically, it will focus on two critical areas: Information Technology Upgrades and Campus Improvements.
Information Technology Upgrades: $60,000 for new server systems to enhance efficiency and data security; $15,000 for faster fiber internet to support the expanding student body; $45,000 for network enhancements to ensure reliable internet access throughout campus; and $25,000 for secure access cards and readers to enhance campus safety.
Campus Improvements: $52,000 to replace the Chapel boiler; $63,000 for walkway repairs to create safer and more accessible paths around campus; and $2,260 for fire alarm system upgrades across all campus facilities.
These upgrades will significantly improve the student experience, providing a secure and enriching environment for academic and spiritual growth.
“We are deeply grateful for the ongoing support from the National Philoptochos Society, which has been instrumental in the past and continues to be vital for our growth,” said Dr. Demetrios S. Katos, President at HCHC. “With this grant, we can address critical needs and provide a modern, secure, and enriching environment for our students.”
“National Philoptochos, along with its chapters and members, is proud to uphold our tradition of offering meaningful support to HCHC. We recognize that both cutting-edge technology and a secure environment are crucial pillars for a successful educational experience. We’re delighted to contribute to ensuring both,” added Arlene Siavelis Kehl, National Philoptochos President.
Philoptochos remains dedicated to supporting HCHC and its mission to cultivate and sustain vocations for service to our Church and society. This grant exemplifies National Philoptochos’ commitment to the future of our community and the importance of a strong educational foundation.
