The Greek Cypriots of New Jersey Hosted Their Second Annual Glendi

NEW JERSEY – The Greek Cypriots of New Jersey (GCNJ) held a successful Cyprus Glendi on March 3 at The Graycliff in New Jersey. Attendees enjoyed the fun evening with great food, open bar, dancing and music by DJ Sava and Olympia.

The organization’s president, Despina Axiotaks along with Vice President Minas Antoniou, welcomed all the guests present for joining them at their Second Annual Glendi after COVID.

Axiotakis asked everyone to observe a moment of silence and prayer for the victims tragically killed in the train collision in Tempi, Greece.

Federation of Cypriot American Organizations (FCAO) President Kyriacos Papastylianou offered a brief greeting.

Consul General of Cyprus in New York Michalis Firillas addressed the guests and stated that he was glad to be with the Greek Cypriots of NJ for the first time and congratulated the president and board for keeping the Cypriot culture and traditions alive and for a wonderful evening.

Axiotakis thanked the following for honoring the GCNJ event with their presence: Consul General Firillas, FCAP President Papastylianou, PSEKA President Philip Christopher, Cyprus-U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Maria Pappas, Cyprus Children’s Fund President Nicos Zittis, founding president of the Cyprus-U.S. Chamber of Commerce and former president of the Cyprus Federation Andy Comodromos, New York State Assemblyman Michael Tannousis, Councilman of Kearny, NJ Stathis Theodoropoulos, Commissioner of the NJ Board of Public Utilities Dr. Zenon Christodoulou, members of the New Jersey Cypriot Association ‘Salamis’, composer, actor, and artistic and musical director of the Pancyprian Association Cultural Division Phyto Stratis as well as many members of the FCAO and NEPOMAK, youth divisions of the FCAO and Cyprus Young Professionals of the Cyprus-U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

She also thanked all the major sponsors, Maria Pappas, Comodromos Associates, P.A. Gifts were provided to the guests by Idalio Foods Limited and 776 Deluxe Foods. Axiotakis also thanked Harris Enotiades for his generous donations.
