‘The Conny Show’ by Greek-American Greg Kritikos Screening May 30 in Astoria

NEW YORK – Greek-American comedian, actor, and Astoria’s own Greg Kritikos shared his latest project, ‘The Conny Show’ with The National Herald. The pilot episode of the “hilarious slice of life comedy set in Astoria, Queens,” will be screened on Thursday, May 30, 7 PM, at Omonia Café, 32-20 Broadway in Astoria.

‘The Conny Show’ follows the uproarious adventures of Conny Spyre, a lovable but curmudgeonly pizza shop owner with a knack for cooking up more than just pies. His old-school sensibilities routinely clash with the rapid changes in modern-day society. Realizing he has a pizzeria to run, he does his best not to blow a gasket while dealing with customers, employees, neighbors, vendors, and bill collectors. The one thing that centers Conny is his beautiful girlfriend, Josephine. She has a serious case of marriage fever that only adds to Conny’s mounting stress.

‘The Conny Show’ was spawned from a viral YouTube short skit called ‘The Slice’. With well over a million views across multiple social media platforms, Kritikos felt this character had potential to develop into something more. Enter director, writer, producer, and alumnus of the prestigious Actors Studio NYC, Michael Richard Williams. Following a brief introduction in 2023, he and Kritikos began their collaboration and started writing The Conny Show’s pilot episode titled ‘No Cheese’. The laughs start right from the beginning, as Conny is faced with the worst news possible for his pizzeria when an employee tells him that there is “no cheese!”

‘The Conny Show’ directed by Williams and starring Kritikos promises to serve up a delightful dish of laughter and heartwarming moments, all against the backdrop of the vibrant Astoria, NY, community. Williams and Kritikos bring to life a cast of colorful characters, including a zany crew of employees and quirky customers, ensuring each episode is packed with saucy, if not spicy, interactions. Each experience pushes Conny to his already maxed-out limit. All he can say is “take your pizza and leave me the hell alone!” But first he needs to find some cheese…

Kritikos distils his 13 years of experience on the standup comedy circuit into his portrayal of Conny Spyre, utilizing his innate ability to convey humor and emotion in any situation he encounters. Throughout his career, Kritikos has met many talented comedians and actors- several of whom he has cast in ‘The Conny Show’—demonstrating his authentic old school sensibilities and devotion to friends in a chronically cynical business.

Catch A Ball Productions, in association with Hardwired Films, and Treach Productions are thrilled to announce the premiere of the half-hour episodic comedy, ‘The Conny Show’, set to captivate audiences with its irresistible blend of humor, heart, and cheesy goodness with a screening of the pilot episode on Thursday, May 30, at Omonia Café located at 32-20 Broadway in Astoria. All the cast and crew are set to attend the screening which is open to “our beloved Astoria residents,” Kritikos said.
