The Always Angry Trump and the Always Smiling Harris

The Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, whom Kamala Harris has chosen as her vice-presidential candidate, is little known outside his state.

So, in the coming days, we will learn a lot about him. What we know is that in many ways he is the opposite of Harris, and this is intentional, aiming to create a balance between them.

Walz was born in a small village. He studied at a Community College, not at the prestigious East Coast universities. He is a simple man, who dresses casually and is comfortable with farmers and ranchers, the social groups with which Democrats have struggled to communicate in recent years.

For the first time, Trump is having difficulty finding the right nicknames and insults. “This is a ticket that would want the country to become communist immediately, if not sooner,” he said on a Fox program a couple of days ago.

What is he talking about?

He added about Walz: “He’s very heavy into transgender. Anything transgender he thinks is great.”

The essence of all this is that Trump is worried. Polls show Harris gaining ground. Harris’s choice of Walz seems to have had a positive effect – it was as politically safe as it could be.
And most importantly: Harris and Walz, as demonstrated at the large rally in Philadelphia a few days ago, have brought back a message of joy, optimism, and normalcy to the campaign.

This contrasts with Trump, whose speeches are full of anger, hatred, insults, and personal attacks on his opponents.

These tactics have worked in the past. However, there are indications that they have become tiring to the point where people want ‘change’, wanting to move away from this dark atmosphere and look forward to a brighter future.

A future that Harris and Walz seem to represent.
