Events of the Holy Archdiocese of Canada

TORONTO – Τhe Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada recently hosted three gatherings with local guests as well as visitors from the United States.

The first was held at the St. Nicholas Cathedral and Metropolitan Center for all Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox clergy of the Greater Toronto Area. The day began with morning prayers and the highlight was a presentation by Fr. Bohdan Hladio of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Canada titled ‘Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine: the Ecclesiastical Dimension’. After discussion on the topic, His Eminence Archbishop Sotirios hosted a Luncheon for the 35 participants in the Metropolitan Center of the Archdiocese.

At the second gathering His Eminence hosted the participants of the North American Orthodox-Catholic Dialogue who were in Toronto for three days. The attended a including a Vespers service and a dinner. In attendance were the two co-Chairman of the Dialogue, His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios of Boston and Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin of Newark, as well as 30 others participating in the Dialogue along with local guests from the academic institutions of Toronto.

The third event took place at the Offices of the Archdiocese, where Archbishop Sotirios welcomed His Eminence Archbishop Papken Tcharian, Prelate of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Canada, along with his entourage. Archbishop Papken had expressed the wish to visit His Eminence Archbishop Sotirios after a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. After exchanging views and opinions, the archbishops also exchanged gifts.
