The Tear of the Pine 2022, the retsina produced by the KECHRIS winery and made of 100% Assyrtiko, won the “Best in Show” title at the world-renowned Decanter World Wine Awards wine competition, with a score of 97/100! It is being awarded only to the Top 50 wines (0.27%) among 18.143 from around the world. This is the first time in history that a retsina (a purely Greek traditional wine) earns this ultimate distinction, which confirms the excellent quality and innovative spirit of KECHRIS Winery in retsina production and beyond.

The Decanter competition is one of the most important, established and influential wine competitions in the world. It is worth noting that, in the past 21 years, only 6 Greek wines have received a “Best in Show” award, which is the highest distinction that a wine can achieve in a competition.

With this distinction, our wine, born from our passion for exploring the boundaries of retsina, has now won a place among the prime examples of the global vineyard. This award is a significant milestone for our winery, given that our main strategic objective remains the promotion of retsina as a world-class product.

The Tear of the Pine 2022 has now won a total of 77 international distinctions in wine competitions, further enhancing its fame and recognition as one of the top Greek wines.
