Taliban-Friendly Pakistan Takes Sides With Turkish-Cypriots Too

His country accused of supporting the terrorist group Taliban as it is set to take over Afghanistan, Pakistani President Arif Alvi in a visit to Turkey said he's in solidarity with Turkish-Cypriots who want recognition for their isolated side of the island 47 years after an unlawful invasion.

Alvi came to to attend the launching ceremony of the MILGEM-class corvette ship built by Turkey for Pakistan, and said that although Pakistan and the Turkish-Cypriots have different cultures and languages, that they are “one.”

“With our hearts, we stand in unity with the Turkish people,” the President said as new hardline Turkish-Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar said he won't seek reunification that has been the goal for decades of diplomats.

Instead, he said – following the line of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who helped get him elected – that he demands two states and permanent partition and for the European Union and United Nations to recognize the occupied territory.

In a report, Turkey's pro-government newspaper The Daily Sabah, that is a mouthpiece for Erdogan , noted that in August that Turkish, Azerbaijani and Pakistani Parliament speakers accepted the Baku Declaration in a ceremony held at the Azerbaijani Parliament to bring the three countries even closer.

The paper said that Turkey and Pakistan are trying to fight xenophobia and Islamophobia and that earlier Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said Turkey would prepare annual reports on it.

Turkey is also working to create a pro-Islam English TV channel to Malaysia and Pakistan announced that Turkey would prepare annual reports on acts of Islamophobia and racism in other countries, while work is now ongoing to create an  anti-Islamophobia English TV channel with Malaysia and Pakistan.
