ATHENS — Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, in an announcement on Friday, sternly attacked Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the government its handling of the EU Council on the response to Covid-19 and vaccines.
"Instead of deciding to fight a battle for a timely and adequate supply of vaccines, on getting the patent so that the vaccine can be mass-produced, instead of the entire European population depending on the production schedule of three industrial firms, Mr. Mitsotakis and his government opted for a 'stunt' move to form an impression, simply so that he is seen to have done something".
The announcement noted that "the European Council rejected his, clearly problematic in terms of fundamental rights, proposal and the only thing that he is left with is yet another certificate of frivolity and political incompetence."
